Best of Bake or Break 2020

This has been A Year. It’s certainly a year unlike any other we’ve ever experienced. With as much that has happened that we’d all probably like to forget, take a minute to reflect on good things, too. I know that I am thankful for our health, safety, work, and happiness in a year where those things aren’t the reality for many.

I am also grateful for each of you who follow my baking adventures. Whether you’ve been with me for years or just discovered me this year as you’ve developed your baking skills, I am so happy to have you here!

As 2020 draws to a close, let’s look back at the recipes I shared this year that were especially popular.

Happy baking! And happy new year!

I’ve made cookies in a lot of forms over the years, but my intention with these Loaded Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars was to make soft, gooey, significant bars jam-packed with plenty of chocolate chips along with some other great flavors. This is THE recipe from 2020 that I could have happily baked and eaten on repeat.

Angel Biscuits on parchment paper

If you’ve never had the pleasure of making and eating Angel Biscuits, please put them on your to-bake list as soon as possible. They’re a hybrid of yeast bread and biscuits, and they’re really just incredibly good.

Almond Cookies are a great example of what happens when you focus on one simple flavor. If you love almonds, then you’ll adore these simple cookies and their lovely almond flavor!

Brownies meet cheesecake meets cookie butter in these decadent Cookie Butter Cheesecake Brownies! The spiced flavor is such a great complement to the chocolate and cream cheese.

Danish Butter Cookies are the homemade version of those classic cookies in the tin that many of us crave during the holiday season. And while those are really good, the homemade kind are fantastic. And they’re so easy to make with a short list of ingredients!

Vanilla Crumb Muffins on a scarred blue surface

Vanilla Crumb Muffins are another celebration of a simple flavor. I love that I almost always have everything I need to make these muffins whenever I get a craving!

Sprinkle Crinkle Cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet

Sprinkle Crinkle Cookies win the award for the happiest cookies I made all year. These simple cookies get their fun colors from the copious addition of sprinkles. You can customize the colors for the occasion, but I just love them with traditional multi-colored sprinkles.

Lemon Bundt Cake topped with lemon curls and zest

This Lemon Bundt Cake is all about the lemon. It’s definitely a must-bake for lemon lovers! And it’s just so pretty, too!

Blueberry Coffee Cake Muffins are little berry-filled coffee cakes in muffin form! These sweet little treats fall into that “anytime” category. Treat yourself to one for breakfast, enjoy one for a sweet snack, or have one for a simple dessert.

I love all things pecan pie, but I’m really smitten with this Irish Cream Pecan Pie. That splash of Irish Cream really makes it something special. And I love that it’s made without corn syrup!

Brown Sugar Spice Cake with Caramel Rum Glaze on a white plate

I find more and more that I can’t resist spiced desserts. And this Brown Sugar Spice Cake with Caramel Rum Glaze is a perfect example of that kind of irresistibility! The cake itself is wonderful, but that rich glaze really takes it over the top!

slices of Sour Cream Pound Cake on colorful plates

Pound cake is pretty tough to beat, and this Sour Cream Pound Cake is no exception. This is the kind of dessert that will serve you well for most any occasion. Serve it as is, or add a topping for a little extra interest.

Each year, I look forward to taking this deep dive to see what recipes you’ve all enjoyed the most. I must say that these are some of my favorites as well!
