- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add the buttermilk and stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
- Pour the melted butter into an 8†x 8†square baking dish. Transfer the dough to the pan, spreading it out evenly all the way to the edges. Score the dough into 9 squares using a sharp knife or a bench scraper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
