Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix the dry ingredients

Mix the wet ingredients

Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the dulce de leche and vanilla.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients

Gradually add the flour mixture in three portions, alternating with two portions of buttermilk. Mix just until combined.

Divide the batter between the two pans, and bake for 35-40 minutes.

Let the cakes cool in the pans on a wire rack for 10 minutes before turning them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
