In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Form a well in the center.

In a separate bowl, stir together the sour cream, melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla.

Combine wet and dry

Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring just until combined.

Fold in the pecans, reserving some for topping the muffins, if desired.

Divide the muffin batter evenly among the muffin cups and top with the remaining nuts and coarse sugar, if desired. Bake for 16 to 20 minutes, or until a pick inserted into the center comes out clean.
