Bring it just to a simmer over medium-low heat or heat in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds.

Combine the chocolate and cream

Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and butter, and allow it to sit for 5 minutes.

Gently stir the vanilla into the chocolate mixture until it’s smooth and glossy.

Transfer the ganache to a shallow pan so that it’s in a shallow, even layer. Cover by placing plastic wrap directly on the surface of the ganache.
