Whisk the flour, baking soda, and optional salt in a mixing bowl.

Mix the dry ingredients

Mix the wet ingredients

Beat the butter until it’s light and fluffy, then mix in the sugars, followed by the eggs and then the vanilla.

Combine wet and dry

With the mixer on low speed, incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and fold in the chocolate chips.

Bake

Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and sprinkle the fleur de sel on top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until set and golden brown. Cool before cutting into bars.
