Whew. There’s a lot going on with just the name of these brownies. As you’ve probably guessed, these Double Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Brownies are big on flavor. Combine that with their being an easy one-bowl recipe, and there’s a lot to love here.

The double chocolate comes from a combination of melted chocolate plus cocoa powder. Using both kinds of chocolate means lots of rich chocolate flavor in a fudgy brownie with a bit of a crackly top.

The cinnamon flavor is subtle. You’ll know it’s there, but it’s not overwhelming. It complements the chocolate and pecans perfectly. I forget when I first discovered the magic of a little bit of cinnamon with chocolate, but I was an instant fan. If you like cinnamon and chocolate but have never tried them together, I highly encourage you to do so.

I tend to prefer brownies with nuts versus their plain counterparts. I love that added crunch and flavor! As much as I love pecans in these brownies, it’s perfectly fine to substitute other nuts if you like. I usually have pecans on-hand all the time, and they’re my favorite nut for baking. That makes them an easy sell for me. If you have a favorite, then just swap them for the pecans. Or use a mixture of nuts for even more variety!

This is one of those much-needed one bowl recipes. You can even leave the electric mixer unplugged in favor of mixing by hand if you want to keep things as simple as possible. I’m sure I’m not alone in needing things to be as blessedly simple now and then.

These Double Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Brownies are just the thing when only a fudgy, nutty brownie will do. The flavor and texture are just fantastic. And with how easy they are to make, you can satisfy that craving in short order!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces (57g) unsweetened chocolate, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons (31g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 & 3/4 cups (350g) granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (120g) coarsely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper so that the lining overhangs by an inch or two on opposite sides. Lightly grease the lining.
  2. Place the butter and chocolate in a large microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave at half power in 30-second increments until the butter has melted and the chocolate melts when stirred. Stir until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in the cocoa powder, followed by the sugar, and then the eggs and the vanilla. Add the flour, cinnamon, and salt, and whisk until combined.
  4. Stir in the pecans. If you like, reserve a few tablespoons of nuts to scatter over the top of the batter.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread evenly. Scatter any reserved pecans over the top of the batter. Press down lightly.
  6. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are set and a pick inserted into the center comes out with a few crumbs attached.
  7. Cool the brownies in the pan on a wire rack. Then use the overhanging lining to remove the brownies from the pan. Cut into squares and serve.

  1. I love the flavors combination in these brownies! Looks delicious!

  2. Grumbling and cranky, I found myself resentful at making yet another brownie recipe. There are too many in my repertoire as it is. Yet, I found myself intrigued between the two forms of chocolate, the pecans, and that subtle cinnamon ingredient. These brownies thrilled, and I am so happy that I went with my gut on this. These are absolutely “makeagainable”, and we loved them. So fudgy and deeply flavored. As of last night, I learned that your brainchild recipe freezes like a dream! Of late, in homage to my Grandma Belle, it makes me feel her energy, when I chop nuts in one of those old fashioned hand choppers where you place nuts in the top chamber, and use the handle to crank, letting the pieces fall into a plastic beaker. PERFECT for this recipe! Thank you Jennifer for another major success…..following your weights makes all child’s play, and with perfect results.
